Last month, the Utah Department of Health and Human Services celebrated the remarkable teamwork and dedication of several Grand County emergency agencies in response to an airplane crash on October 1st, 2023. Honorees include Grand County EMS, Moab Valley Fire Department, Moab City Police Department, Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Classic Air Medical, Canyonlands Airport Fire Department, and Moab Regional Hospital.

We are pleased to announce that Josh Neff will join Mercy Hospital’s 143-year legacy of care by serving as our Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1. Josh brings vast knowledge and expertise to rural health care and understands the importance of keeping medical care close to home. He currently serves as both the CEO of St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Morgan and as Vice President of Integration and Rural Health.

WHA members, Soniya Fidler, President of UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center, Jeff Mengenhausen, CEO of Montrose Regional Health, Brian Murphy, MD, CEO of Valley View Hospital, and Kay Whitley, CEO of Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center were named on Becker’s list of 160 community hospital CEOs to know.

Delta Health is excited to announce that Jonathan Cohee will be stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) starting July 8, 2024. Cohee has served as Delta Health’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) since November 2023, bringing with him a distinguished 27-year background in the healthcare industry. His strategic vision and operational expertise have already made a significant impact, enhancing service access and operational efficiency.

Delta Health is excited to announce the opening of a new Behavioral Health Center and an Urgent Care Clinic on July 1 located at 70 Stafford Avenue where Delta Health Family Medicine is currently located. Delta Health Family Medicine will be relocating to 296 Stafford Avenue (next to Delta Health Pediatrics) on the Delta Health campus.

The Memorial Regional Health Foundation received a $30,000 grant award from the Rocky Mountain Health Foundation in support of Workforce Development in Moffat County. The grant received will provide assistance for training and employee development for employees who are advancing their healthcare careers.

EMS agencies participating in the exercise are the Airport Rescue and Firefighting, Alamosa Fire Department, Alamosa EMS, Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, Alamosa Police Department, Alamosa Coroner’s Office, RETAC, SLV Health, Conejos EMS, Denver Air, and Centric Aviation.

Although Robert “Bob” Morasko, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, recently told the hospital board of directors he’s ready to retire, he plans to stay on until they find his replacement and the transition period has been completed.

Vail Health Hospital’s Family Birth Center, in partnership with Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB), is opening a local milk depot to help increase access to donor human milk by making it easy and convenient for breastfeeding parents to donate their excess milk for families and babies in need. Vail Health will host a community celebration of the new partnership on June 20, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. in the main lobby of Vail Health Hospital. Information regarding the program will be provided and representatives from Mothers’ Milk Bank will be present to answer any questions from the public.

San Luis Valley Health (SLVH), the region’s largest hospital, and Children’s Hospital Colorado (Children’s Colorado), one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals, announced today they have entered into a Care Alliance, which is a collaboration across our organizations to provide children and their families with the highest level of coordinated medical care as close to home when possible.
