Veteran Affairs (VA) Western Colorado Health Care System (WCHCS) serves 15 counties in western Colorado, 2 counties in southeast Utah, and 1 in Wyoming spanning over 47,000 square miles and 10 congressional districts. The health care system comprises five care sites – The VA Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado, four outpatient clinics in Craig, Colorado, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Montrose, Colorado, and Moab, Utah. Services provided by WCHCS include surgery, cardiopulmonary, radiology, women Veterans’ healthcare, social work services, physical and occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics lab, nutrition, mental health, dental, and podiatry. The facility has one of only two inpatient psychiatric wards in Western Colorado. The facility has several teaching programs and affiliates with St. Mary’s. Grand Junction is home to the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic held in April at Snowmass Village, Colorado. Throughout the healthcare system, services include medical, surgical, psychiatric, physical rehabilitation, dental, comprehensive wellness, pain management, intense outpatient substance abuse, inpatient medical and surgical, hospice, transitional care, and integrated case management.

In 2022, VA Western Colorado Health Care System was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of six hospitals in Colorado to have a 5-star patient experience rating.

VA Western Colorado Health Care System exists to serve the Veteran through the delivery of timely quality care by staff who demonstrate outstanding customer service, the advancement of health care through research, and the education of tomorrow’s health care providers.
