Yet, quality care options in the region have dwindled since the pandemic, Ms. McConnachie said — sparking conversations amongst the remaining CEOs. Individually, their hospitals could not support a local specialist — but maybe, together, they could.

Family Health West based in Fruita has joined with Western Governors University to expand access to education and professional development for nurses and other health care providers.

On January 11, 2024, the San Luis Valley Health Foundation proudly accepted San Luis Valley Federal Bank’s annual donation for the 2024 event season of $8,500.

St. Mary’s Medical Center contributes more than $440 million annually to the Mesa County economy, according to an analysis that takes into account wages, spending and capital investments.

Two property taxes assessed on property owners in the Aspen Valley Hospital District will generate more than $11 million that will be used to pay down its debt and operate the 25-bedroom critical care facility.

The public hospital will draw $8.5 million from its voter-approved 1.5-mill levy installed in 1995; that mill levy, or property tax, helps fund the facility’s general operations.
