Aspen Valley Hospital in Good Financial Health Going Into 2024

Two property taxes assessed on property owners in the Aspen Valley Hospital District will generate more than $11 million that will be used to pay down its debt and operate the 25-bedroom critical care facility.

The public hospital will draw $8.5 million from its voter-approved 1.5-mill levy installed in 1995; that mill levy, or property tax, helps fund the facility’s general operations.

Southwest Memorial Hospital Awarded 2023 Performing Leadership Award

Southwest Memorial Hospital has been awarded the 2023 Performing Leadership Award by the Colorado Rural Health Network.

According to Chief Nursing Officer Lisa Gates, the award was determined based on information provided by the Chartis Hospital Performance Index, which is used by Colorado Rural Health as a “standard for assessing and bench-marking rural and critical access hospital performance.”

The SLV Health OB Team is excited about the addition of cordless fetal monitors in the Women’s Health Center. This piece of equipment allows for increased mobility for mothers who are in labor which has shown to have advanced results in speeding up the labor process.

Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals across America in the categories of quality, outcomes, and/or patient perspective.
