Amalia Mateo-Baltazar is a Care Navigator for the Community Care Alliance. In this role, Amalia supports patients through care coordination by connecting them with health and community resources, facilitating communication across the care team, and helping to remove barriers to care. Amalia is a Certified Nursing Assistant with more than 14 years of experience in healthcare, including over nine years of hospital experience in fast-paced Med/Surg and ICU departments. Her dedication to supporting her patients, being their voice during difficult times, and providing a shoulder to lean on is what Amalia feels is her calling in life. For Amalia, seeing her patients recover and return home to their loved ones is one of the most rewarding parts of her work. Amalia speaks three languages: English, Spanish, and her Guatemalan dialect, Q’anjob’al. She believes it is essential that everyone receive the same level of care, regardless of the language they speak. She is passionate about translation and interpretation and works to ensure that every patient understands their care and receives the support they deserve. Outside of work, Amalia enjoys spending time with her two children, friends, and family. She loves to cook, crochet to decompress, and take drives into the mountains to recharge. Amalia also enjoys watching Spanish soccer whenever she gets the chance.
