Pioneers Medical Center (PMC) is a 48-bed, community-based healthcare facility focused on building life-long partnerships with our patients to empower them to achieve optimal health. Pioneers Medical Center is operated by the Eastern Rio Blanco County Health Service District and is governed by a publicly elected, seven-member Board of Directors.
PMC’s history began in 1947 when Freeman Fairfield, a previous resident of this community, approached the County Commissioners about establishing a hospital. Over the next several years, Mr. Fairfield worked with the Commissioners and a group of local citizens to build a hospital for the Meeker community.
In June 2015, PMC opened a brand new hospital that includes a full-service hospital with inpatient, outpatient care; level IV emergency department; larger Meeker Family Health Center; a re-imagined Walbridge Wing long-term care residence and more.
Mission
Pioneers Medical Center will lead the effort to improve the health and well-being of the residents, workers, and visitors of their community.
