Education – Consultation – Research – Business Development
Providing
for the health and healthcare of a rural community is an absolutely
unique experience. Small and rural hospitals are subject to the distinctive
pressures and conditions existing within the governance, medical
staff, employees, socio-economic, and political makeup of the local
community. Surviving and thriving in this unique environment is a
challenge requiring exceptional experience and skill. The Institute
for Rural Health Leadership was created and constructed specifically
to assist rural health leaders survive and flourish in this unique
environment.
Education
The Institute will provide innovative educational
opportunities for rural healthcare managers and administrative teams.
The curriculum will be specifically designed to meet the exacting
needs of small and rural healthcare organizations and equip rural
leaders with the skills and tools necessary to be successful. The
Institute’s goal is to assist rural healthcare organizations identify,
recruit, educate, mentor, and retain the leadership talent they need
to be successful today and in the future. A sample of Institute educational

Consultation
The Institute will
provide consultation services to in areas specific to the needs and
success of small and rural leaders and their organizations. Consulting
services will be provided by faculty of the Institute with experience
in delivering quality services in the rural healthcare environment.
The Institute’s goal is to provide consultation services designed
to deliver the right information at the right time to help rural
healthcare leaders and their communities retain and advance the quality
of health and healthcare in their local communities. Example consultation

Research
The Institute will
continuously research best practices and innovations in rural health
management and leadership with a goal of continuously improving the
quality of educational and consultation services. The Institute will
conduct specific research and publish findings in areas of small
and rural hospital survival, physician practice management, service
excellence, employee engagement, clinical quality, and telemedicine.
Custom research and analysis will also be available on an ad hoc
basis. Research activities may include:

Development
Services
The Institute will provide specific research,
situational analysis, planning, meeting facilitation, and business
development services to help secure the survival of rural health
organizations and facilitate the successful implementation of special
projects, new businesses, and shared services across regional/national
rural health networks. The Institute will be available to the member
organizations and clients for unique research and development services
on an as needed basis.
